Welcome to Mountains of the Lamb
Mountains of the Lamb is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit prison ministry based in Jacksonville, Florida, with a powerful calling to walk alongside individuals serving time in juvenile and correctional facilities. Our ministry also extends into the local community, where we provide fellowship, mentorship, and encouragement to those seeking hope, direction, and a stronger foundation for their lives.
Deeply rooted in the unconditional love of our Heavenly Father, we provide a sense of community and support for individuals facing challenges in their lives. We believe that No Mountain is too big for the Lamb of God, and with Jesus, all things are possible.
We are committed to changing lives through a Christ-centered program that renews hearts, restores relationships, strengthens character, and encourages transformation of the whole person—heart, mind, body, soul, and spirit. Through our ministry, we have witnessed lives transformed, relationships rebuilt, behaviors changed, and wisdom gained that equips individuals to make healthier choices and grow into leaders of purpose.
Our mission also extends beyond incarceration. We walk alongside individuals as they prepare to return to their families and communities by providing mentorship, discipleship, life coaching, and practical re-entry guidance. We help individuals strengthen their faith, rebuild relationships, develop life skills, establish healthy habits, and navigate the challenges of starting over. With Christ at the center, we help them move forward with confidence, purpose, and a strong foundation for lasting change.
Rejection does not have the final word. We help individuals turn pain into growth, fear into faith, and rejection into resilience. We walk alongside them as they discover their identity in Christ and step boldly into the life God has prepared for them.
Every person carries a story, a purpose, and a testimony, and we believe God can use each one to bring healing and hope to others. We invite you to join us through volunteering, serving, praying, partnering, or giving as we help individuals overcome the mountains before them.
meet our Founder
Nick Akley is the founder of Mountains of the Lamb Ministry. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Nick moved to Jacksonville, Florida, in 1999 to pursue his culinary education. What he didn't realize at the time was how God would use the experiences of his life to prepare him for a much greater calling.
Nick is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Christian Leadership Ministry and brings more than 15 years of volunteer experience serving in ministry and throughout the community. He has also had the privilege of mentoring and supporting young athletes both on and off the field while coaching high school football.
Nick's journey has been shaped by significant challenges and profound transformation. Growing up, he experienced adversity, a broken home, and circumstances that exposed him to violence and various forms of abuse. Those experiences created wounds that followed him for many years, but they would not define the ending of his story.
For years, Nick struggled with the scars of his past. Yet even in seasons of darkness, God was working. His faith in God grew stronger, and what began as a spiritual awakening became a life-changing journey of hope, healing, purpose, and redemption.
Over the years, Nick has served alongside ministries and organizations dedicated to reaching individuals facing difficult circumstances. Through speaking engagements, mentoring, discipleship, and one-on-one conversations, he has encouraged those who feel lost, broken, or without hope. His experiences have given him a unique ability to connect with others with compassion, understanding, and without judgment.
Today, Nick's experiences have become part of his purpose. His calling to prison ministry allows him to walk alongside individuals facing their own mountains, helping them discover that their past does not have to determine their future. He believes every person has the capacity for change and that through Jesus Christ, lives can be restored and new beginnings are possible.
Nick remains committed to serving with compassion and purpose while being a voice of hope for those searching for a way forward. His prayer is that his story and testimony will remind others that even in life's darkest places, the light of Christ can still shine.
No Mountain is too Big for the Lamb of God, and with Jesus all things are possible.
